Today, I sent off the two paintings that I sold. Everything about doing this is wonderful.....except; the cost of shipping blows my mind! So I need to find a place cheaper than UPS.
Started the commision painting which is going under the title "Plooflowers 2", which is kind of generic, I know. Worked on "The Magician" and in a moment of inspiration started "Cold Mountain", which is already rather pretty and relaxing, even though it only has the first layer of toilet paper.
The exciting thing about visual art is all the different means to an end. "The Magician" is going to be predominantly realistic, "Plooflowers" is painted by scraping and interpreting what's left, and "Cold Mountain" is painted with TP. All lovely techniques to get to an idea, but none of them should be dogmatized about. Once used they can be put away until next time.
I'm dying to start some more collages.
Reading "Man and His Symbols" by Jung and "Art and Visual Perception" by Arnheim. At least that was my reading material for this evening.
Sunday I was finally able to re-plant my plants and put the stinky garlic into some soil. I hope it grows. I'm a little paranoid that I may have upset one cactus. It's spent the last several years in a square pot and I sort of forced it into a round one. Hopefully it won't get too mad at me.
I swear I'm going to start Tai-Chi again soon.
Testing my martial arts students at the end of the month.
