Going through one of my phases where I'm completely burned out with everything, especially doing my art. My life has been following a pattern for a lot of years now and this is a part of it. All that I need to do is just ride it out but it is rough when it comes around. When I do come out of it I will have a new set of influences coming into view and that is always exciting. I feel like I need to have an "Everything Must Go" sale, get a clean slate. There is so much of my old stuff floating around here that it might be jamming the signals. But who knows?

After a burnt out night I somehow managed to start five(!) paintings today. Four are in a series and one will stand alone, at least it looks like it will stand alone right now. All five of them are very brown. Not sure why I've decided to go with that color. So far I'm enjoying what's coming out.

California is on fire! I just heard on the radio that there is 1,000 fires going on in the state. We can see it here; the sky is pretty nasty and i think I can smell it. Also, I've got a headache which I think is from the fires. But it may not be...I had a stressful day yesterday and it may be carrying over.
I had to do the self-defense thing yesterday and I accidentally hurt some poor guys finger. It was dislocated before, which I didn't know, and I may have re-injured it. He did do some friendly chatting with me afterword so he may not be holding a grudge but I still feel really bad. It'll go away in time but right now I'm just really stressed about it.

Been doing a couple of days of sleeping in. I think I need to stop that, but , then again, why? I didn't sleep in on vacation and now that it's almost over I want to. Somewhere along the line I was programmed to think it was bad, like pretty much everyone, but it isn't. Getting up and being "productive" is really just a silly little notion. So there.

So I just found out that going outside, getting some air and sun, really gets the brain working. I had all kinds of great ideas about magick and art, but now that I'm back in the apartment looking at this screen I'm not so enthused anymore.

Started a new painting inspired by my excitement over the newly discovered Brazilian tribe. And just like this tribe was accidentally discovered so was a technique in this painting that has me very excited. It did disrupt my original plans for this painting but it's perfectly okay. Now I'm just not sure where to go with it.

So I learned an very valuable lesson today, that I can never say "I can eat anything" because I found out today that I can't. Ploo treated me to Taiwanese food for lunch and I hated the "stinky tofu". I really won't ever have that again.

I busted out "Once Upon a Time in the West" and I really like the way it turned out.

Thinking about starting a portrait of Ploo but not sure if I feel like doing it distorted or somewhat more realistic. I feel kind of bad making her look weird. That's an odd feeling I've got going on...HA!
It's another gray morning but I'm enjoying it.
My ear has been ringing off the hook for two days now. It's very uncomfortable.

Just got in from taking some pictures out by the DeYoung museum. Wanted to get shots of the great sculptures out and about. I had a nice time and feel pretty refreshed.
My ear isn't ringing quite as bad as it was earlier and it's very nice.
Don't know what was happening earlier but my stomach was in really bad shape. Feels empty now though.

Good news, the first legal same sex marriages in California has taken place today. There are a lot of happy folks out there tonight.

Had a fairly nice night out. Went to the Martin Lawrence gallery to see their Pop Art collection, which was very cool. Had some free wine, enjoyed catching up with Mr. Dorgon, etc. Afterword we all went out and ended up at a shady korean bar that had absolutely stunning bar tenders...Mr. D and E suspected that there was some shady prostitution going on behind the scenes. Who really knows but good lord the girls were lovely. Jose showed up while we were there.
From there we hit another bar that had a funny bar tender, a drunk old man. He was scary at first but ended up being really funny and nice. The we went to another bar which was pretty punk rock. I enjoyed that one a bit more. There was some cool art on the walls.
Now, from there the pleasant and enjoyable evening took an ugly turn. For some reason Jose decided that he was in the mood to start a fight and for some reason I became the object of his hostilities which shocked all of us. I didn't do anything but I found myself becoming very angry. I think Mr. D. sensed it and he got between me and Jose...we weren't arguing and I wasn't even facing him, I think D. just wanted to prevent him from pushing me into the walls anymore. But I ended up being pretty pissed off. I expect drunk strangers to screw around a little bit but not someone in my own group.
Other than the end of the night I had a great time but the ending was a bit of a bring down.
Mr. D. presented me with his new CD release which has the most hilarious packaging I've seen in a long time. I took a hilarious picture of it on top of a drunk passed out guy at the korean bar, which, I know, is jacked up, but damn it was hilarious!!! I don't even want to open it out of respect for the wackiness.
I have a bit of a cough today. I think all the smoke filled bars, an atmosphere I haven't been in in ages, has effected me a bit.
